Since Martin Luther’s “A Mighty Fortress is our God” is a paraphrase of Psalm 46, Luther’s own melody for that confident hymn has long been used as the basis for Anglican chant rendering of the Psalm. It is sung here by the Durham Cathedral Choir directed by James Lancelot, with Ian Shaw playing the organ.
