This recording of Psalm 9 includes chants by George Job Elvey and Michael Dawson. Dawson was an eleven-year-old chorister when he composed this chant. By contrast, George Job Elvey was a prolific and much celebrated composer of church music. Among his many works are the tunes to the hymns “Come, ye thankful people, come” and “Crown Him with many crowns.” In this performance, the Exeter Cathedral Choir is conducted by Andrew Millington with organist Paul Morgan.
